Agroecology and cooperativism
Transforming citrus farming: ecological pioneering and collaboration in the field
In addition to being pioneers in organic citrus farming in the Caí Valley, we invest heavily in agroforestry systems and biodynamic farming practices, always striving to promote harmony between agricultural production and the environment. Our approach goes beyond simple citrus production: we strive to build a sustainable model that strengthens biodiversity and improves soil health.
We also encourage rural succession, guaranteeing income and quality of life for farmers, proving that remaining in the countryside is a profitable, respected, and essential activity.
Cooperatives play a crucial role in providing technical support, access to new technologies, and marketing channels, facilitating the expansion of organic production and the introduction of products into the market. Furthermore, they promote social and economic inclusion, allowing farmers to expand their activities collaboratively, with greater efficiency and lower costs.
The Ecocitrus Cooperative of Ecological Citrus Growers of Vale do Caí – Ecocitrus was officially founded on November 2, 1994, by 15 founding members. Initially established as an association, the fifteen founders who pioneered this work believed that another type of agriculture was possible in the Vale do Caí region: without pesticides, preserving the health of the planet and of each consumer.
